But why do we love chocolate, what is it about the sweet, melt in your mouth taste that keeps everyone wanting more?

According to modern historians, the history of chocolate dates back to 2000 years. But, most recently, some have discovered it could be even older.

Chocolate lovers may not know that in the beginning, chocolate was not eaten; it was a drink, and it originated in Latin America, then came to Spain sometime in the 1500s and then eventually made its way to Europe, and now its enjoyed across North America.

In 1828, the chocolate squeeze press was invented. Changing the way chocolate was produced, this device can squeeze cocoa butter from roasted cacao beans, leaving a powder behind. This powder is mixed with a liquid and poured into a mold, where it solidifies into a chocolate bar.

Studies have shown that dark chocolate has some health benefits, including the lowering of cholesterol and blood pressure and improvement of brain function, reduce the risk of heart disease, antioxidants, and more.
